Critical Role Season Four Unveils the Warriors Table

Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with rich lore, a colorful mix of heroes, and a gripping narrative featuring divine entities, demons, and sinister influences expanding in power within the city.

Warning: Spoilers for Episode 3 of Campaign 4 follow below.

The Soldiers Table Revealed

The latest chapter finished on a huge suspense moment and revealed the first table of characters who will branch out from the central cast to embark on their own adventure, distinct from the other two tables.

The Soldiers table includes the determined fighter (played by the voice actor), Thimble (the talented performer), Tyranny (the cast member), the cleric (Sam), and Kattigan (the actor).

Dividing the Cast

With a large ensemble, it was obvious from the start that keeping everyone at a single group would be unfeasible.

That’s why, the initial installments of Campaign 4 serve as an Overture, weaving together the personal journeys before dividing into three smaller tables: Fighters, Schemers, and Seekers.

What Defines the Soldiers Table

As described by the DM, the combat-focused party is for players who prefer a traditionally charged fight-heavy gameplay experience where peaceful solutions are few and far between.

Upon first impression, characters like the reluctant priest Wicander Halovar might seem out of place, but the events of the latest installment make it clear why these specific adventurers are ideally matched for the Soldiers table.

Why They Must Go

For one thing, the group understands precisely where to go next after a brutal opening clash with The Crow Keepers.

An old friend of Thjazi Fang—whose demise initiated the narrative’s action—exploited The Crow Keepers for his own means, breaking into Thjazi’s hideout, assaulting Thimble, and taking all the powerful objects to sell off.

The traitor then settled his liabilities and escaped to a fortified location in the northern region, beyond Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother pursuing him.

Character Drivers

Moreover, each character has a personal reason to leave the city the urban setting:

  • The rogue, as the companion and best friend, desires revenge.
  • Kattigan has experience in Timmony and cautions that it is a nasty place.
  • The strong character and The cleric, having defied his family’s wishes to execute Teor and instead saved him, have no safe haven.
  • But, their position as prominent individuals in the powerful family could help the team reach locations they usually can’t.
  • Moreover, The fighter swore a life debt to The savior for his rescue and will now go with him wherever.

Wanted and Hunted

Lastly, all of them are sought by the authorities that rule Dol-Makjar for a multiple motives, making lingering locally dangerous:

  • The agile adventurer and Kattigan are recognized lawbreakers.
  • The warrior and The healer betrayed the influential house and the horde of evil beings they are aligned with.
  • The target is targeted for elimination by the clan.

This leaves them little choice but to head to Timmony in quest for Casimir.

Future Episodes

According to the latest episode’s post-show segment, we learn that the warrior group won’t be around next week, leaving the rest of the players to round up the Seekers and Schemers groups.

Audiences can look forward to discovering which characters will be assigned to which table in the season’s concluding setup installment, available to watch on the upcoming Thursday.
